What we collect and why
When you send an enquiry through this website, we collect your name, email address and message, and your phone number and postcode if you choose to give them. We use them to reply to your enquiry and to take steps you ask for before any agreement. Our lawful bases are your consent, which you give by ticking the box, and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries.
When you phone or email us, we keep a note of what you tell us for the same purposes.
When you instruct us, we also collect the details we need to do the work: the property addresses, the names and addresses of owners (including from Land Registry searches), drawings, photographs and correspondence. Our lawful bases are performing our contract with you, meeting legal obligations such as keeping accounts, and our legitimate interest in handling claims.
What this website does and does not do
This website does not use cookies, advertising trackers or analytics tools. It loads no content from other companies’ servers: the fonts and images are served from this site. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, the pages requested and the time. They are used to run the site securely and are not used to identify visitors.
Who we share information with
We share information only where we need to:
- With the other owner and their surveyor, where it is part of the party wall process. A notice, for example, has to carry the building owner’s name and address.
- With the Land Registry, when we search for property owners.
- With service providers who host this website and our email, who process information on our behalf.
- With our professional advisers and insurers, where necessary.
- Where the law requires it.
We do not sell personal information.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to instructions: for up to 12 months.
- Records of work we have done for you: for six years after the matter ends, which is the usual period in which a claim could be made.
- Accounting records: for as long as the law requires.
Your rights
You have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted in some circumstances, to restrict or object to how we use it and, where we rely on consent, to withdraw that consent at any time. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information, including using an encrypted (https) connection on this website. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so please do not include sensitive information in an enquiry form that you do not need to.
